European privacy is being increasingly redefined by systems of identity verification, communication governance, pervasive sensing, and infrastructure-level control.
This talk examines four converging trends reshaping privacy in Europe: identity-based access controls, proposals to weaken private encrypted communications, expanding biometric and mobile surveillance, and AI systems that increasingly infer and generate information from public data. Together, these developments point toward an "access-controlled internet," where privacy is no longer the default but a conditional state governed by technical and regulatory systems.
